A fully-fledged television sub-center in each divisional town is: the Minister of Information
Minister of Information and Broadcasting. Hashan Mahmud said: “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is in the process of setting up comprehensive TV sub-centres in every divisional town in the country including Rajshahi. Local programs will be recorded and broadcast in these sub-centers, so that the local culture develops.
He said this after the inauguration of the newly constructed building at the NATO sub-center under Bangladesh Television’s ‘Countrywide Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting’ project at 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30.
Hashan Mahmud said: “The father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, started the NATO branch of Bangladesh Television in 1974. At that time, local programs were broadcast from NATO Headquarters on a limited basis. Now, the construction of a new building will further expand the functions of the sub-center. The addition will be a new initiative, which is part of the national development of the current government.
He also said, “When the Awami League government comes to power, the country develops. And the BNP-Jamaat wants the destruction of the country. They attacked humans from 2013 to 2015. Gasoline bombs were thrown. Human rights have been violated in the name of the blockade.
The Minister of Information said: “If the BNP is doing vandalism, disorder, murder, arson again in the name of politics, then the government administration will take action to ensure the safety of the people” . If vandalism takes place in the streets, Awami League leaders and workers will also stand with the people. Sabotage will be fought with the people.
Asked about the “break in relations” between BNP and Jamaat, he replied: “The BNP-Jamaat unit exists and will remain. Because yesterday BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir silently accepted BNP-Jamaat unity as inseparable in response to a question.
District Awami League Chairman Abdul Quddus, BTV General Manager Sohrab Hossain, District Commissioner Shamim Ahmed and others were also present at the groundbreaking ceremony for the newly constructed building at the NATO Sub Center .
It is known that the construction work of the new building was completed under the supervision of the Public Works Department at a cost of around two crore two lakh taka. The new three-storey building of the television sub-center includes the electrical sub-center on the first floor, the broadcasting and control room on the second floor and the offices on the third floor.
