Artists took the stage in ‘Hip Hop’
After the speech, ‘Ever Green’ took the stage. The rap titled ‘Astheer Sahi Anast’ captivates the audience. The artists performed rap and break dance in several parts of the hour-and-a-half event.
Like the lyrics of the song ‘Fight together/Peu import le danger’ conveys the message of fighting together. The fusion of Western music with Bangladeshi musical instruments can also be seen on stage.
The artists managed to present a very successful cultural event with the audience applauding after each performance, including Barud’s performance under the title “Hate Chai Aami Yantravimukh”.
Organizers said the US Embassy in Dhaka, together with American Voices, brought 4 award-winning hip-hop artists to Dhaka. They conducted a series of workshops with 54 aspiring Bangladeshi “Hip Hop” star artists from August 25 to September 1. The workshop was held at the Edward M. Kennedy Center for Public Service and the Arts.
American Voices is primarily a cultural diplomacy organization based in the United States. Launched in 2007, Youth Excellence on Stage, or YES Academy for short, is American Voices’ flagship cultural diplomacy program, aimed at educating young people around the world in some of America’s greatest cultural genres.
YES Academy is one of many Arts Envoy programs run in partnership with the Department of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State and American Voices.
