Own reporter: Teesta Solar Limited’s power station, the country’s largest solar power project, can go into commercial production next December. It is said that trial production has already started at this factory.

On November 23, Teesta Solar released an announcement regarding the commissioning of the plant, which was discussed in various newspapers. Production is said to continue from November 27.

This information is known from related sources.

Teesta Solar Limited is a subsidiary of Beximco Limited, a capital market listed company. If the company’s plant is used at full capacity, it can produce 200 megawatts of electricity per day.

Beximco Limited 2021 sukuk i.e. Islamic Sharia compliant bonds raised Tk 3000 crore, a large part of which was invested in Teesta Solar.

It is known that in 2017, an initiative was taken to set up a solar power plant in Bara Char area located at the junction of Sundarganj of Gaibandha district, Pirgacha of Rangpur district and Ulipur upazila of Kurigram district. In the same year, Beximco Limited entered into a power purchase and implementation agreement with the Government Power Development Board (BPDB).

The solar power plant was installed on about 600 acres of abandoned land in Durgam Char. About 1,700 crore rupees was spent there. 85 erection piles have been installed in this plant. About 560,000 solar panels have been installed there. The beauty of the rows of solar panels will attract all eyes.

Sources linked to the project claim that it will be possible to generate 200 megawatts of electricity per day through 120 inverters from these solar panels. To this end, a 35.35 km long transmission line was constructed from Teesta Power Station to Rangpur to connect 28 transmission boxes, construct a 120 KVA transmission tower with substations and connect to the National Network. Electricity will be supplied from Sundarganj center to Rangpur grid substation via this line.

Meanwhile, Teesta Solar’s circular published in the newspaper stated, “The construction of the Sundarganj-Rangpur 132 KV dual KV transmission line connecting the 200 MW (AC) solar power plant of Teesta Solar Limited located at Sunderganj in the Gaibandha district is complete. The commissioning of the said 132 KV double KV transmission line is scheduled for Sunday, November 27, 2022 with a voltage of 1.32,000. The said line will be electrified in high voltage (132 KV) after its commissioning”.

However, no official statement has been received from Beximco or Teesta Solar Limited regarding the launch of the Teesta Solar plant.
