Chanchal-Raj-Tushid’s ‘Hawa’ goes to the Oscars
“Hawa” by Mezbaur Rahman Sumon from Bangladesh was nominated for the “Foreign Language Film” category at the 95th Academy Awards.The coordinator of the Oscar Bangladesh committee, Abdullah Al Maruf, confirmed this information.
Maruf said that this time when the films were invited to compete in the “Best International Feature Film” category at the 95th Academy Awards, two films were submitted to us. From there, ‘Hawa’ was selected.”
The 95th Academy Awards will take place on March 12, 2023. The prize will be awarded to 24 branches of the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California. Best International Feature Film is one of them.
The story of the film ‘Hawa’ directed by Mejbau Rahman revolves around eight sailors and a mysterious Bedeni stranded on a fishing trawler with no destination in the middle of the sea. In the genre of mystery drama, the film ‘Hawa’ is essentially a fairy tale of this period. According to film production company Sun Music and Motion Pictures Limited and production company Facecard Production, audiences will see this traditional form of fairy tale films in a new form on the cinema screen.
Mezbaur Rahman Sumon, Sukarna Saheed Dhiman and Jahin Farooq Amin wrote the screenplay for the film with story and dialogues by Mejbaur Rahman Sumon.
Chanchal Chowdhury, Nazifa Tushi, Shariful Raj, Suman Anwar, Nasir Uddin Khan, Sohail Mondal, Rizvi Riju, Mahmud Hasan and Bablu Bose starred in this star-studded film. Cinematography by Kamrul Hasan Khosru, editing by Sajal Alak, background music by Rashid Sharif Shoaib and music composed by Emon Chowdhury
