Drishyam 2 review | Review of Ajay Devgan Drishyam star two, remake of Mohanlal’s dgtl film

What is in front of the eyes, is it true? Or what I want to see is it true? Jeetu Joseph made the Malayalam movie “Drishyam” in 2013 based on this idea. In 2015, director Nishikant Kamat made a remake of the same film. At that time, audiences all over the country were shaking after seeing such a tense thriller. Jeetu Joseph already directed the sequel to this film in Malayalam last year. Many people watched Mohanlal star ‘Drishyam 2’ in OTT at home. This time the sequel was released in Hindi. Directed by Abhishek Pathak. If you’re not watching Ajay Devgan’s ‘Drishyam 2’ because you’ve seen Mohmalal’s movie, then you’re going to miss it.

The movie starts on the night of October 4, 2014. I mean exactly the scene the first movie ended with. After that, however, the story moves forward seven years. Just as the audience has not yet forgotten the Salgaonkar family from seven years ago, it can be seen that the Salgaonkar family has not yet forgotten the horror of seven years ago. Making a sequel to a blockbuster movie isn’t word of mouth. A story from seven years ago can stick in the minds of the public in its own right. But it is the responsibility of the director to reinforce this memory and move the story forward. And Abhishek did it well.

If you don't look

A story where the public knows who the culprit is. Find out what the crime is and how it happened. Even, in the previous story, the criminal himself confessed his crime to the police. Now an entire sequel comes to prove it. Even after telling so much, the directors managed to keep a sense of “what’s going on” in the audience throughout the film.

If film capital is a tense storyline, then the most precious gem here is Ajay Devgn. Ajay must be seen in the role of Vijay Salgaonkar without comparison to Mohanlal. The film will bring a smile to the lips of the average failed middle class man of class four who has all his education and what he can do to support his family. Bijay countered every move the police made when there was a loophole in the law. Ajay’s performance in this role is impeccable.

There is no difference from the previous film in the rest of the cast. Each old character is played by previous actors. It’s as nostalgic as it is practical. The characters have aged over seven years. Actors have also increased. So, seeing them on the screen, the audience can easily correspond. It seems like seven years have really passed. Shriya Saran, Ishika Dutt as before are the scared mother-daughter duo in this film. Both will focus on their roles. However, child actor Mrunal Yadav as a little girl played a much bigger role in the previous film. This time it was not used that way.

Tabu was also not used in this way. He’s been in the movie for such a short time that the character can look like a cameo. Kamlesh Sabant played the role of Gaitonde in this film as well as before. The new addition in this film is Akshay Khanna. We have seen him in such a role in some movies like “Ittefaq” before that. So even if the game is good, the audience won’t like it. Saurabh Shukla also has a small but important role. He showed how to catch the audience’s attention even from the screen for those few minutes.

Seven years later, could the sequel to the film have the same effect?

The filmmaking is excellent. Sudhir Chowdhury’s camera captures each character close-up in most scenes. So it is convenient to create drama. Light-dark Goa, rainy night, winding mountain roads, fear in the minds of the characters – it’s all captured by skilled hands on camera. The combination of background music and dialogue is excellent in every scene. Editor Arif Sheikh has mastered how to hold the audience, how to create drama even in a film of about two and a half hours.

Is ‘Drishyam 2’ as cluttered as the previous film? In a word, “yes”. There are errors in the script. Why after all these years there is no CCTV in various roads, hospitals or government labs is not understood. At least when Vijay is in his own office. But the public will not have time to think about all this. Because they will enjoy the excitement of the story from start to finish.
