Iran has released Oscar-winning actress Taraneh Alidosti, who was arrested for criticizing her crackdown on anti-government protests. He was released on Wednesday after almost three weeks in prison.

The 38-year-old star of Asghar Farhadi’s Oscar-winning film The Salesman, Taraneh Alidusti, has been released on bail, Iran’s semi-official ISNA news agency reported. His mother, Nadere Hakimelahi, earlier in an Instagram post said he would be released.

Voice of America reports that Alidusti posed with his friends with flowers after his release from Tehran’s notorious Evin prison. However, no further details about the actress’ case have been released.

Alidusti is among Iranian celebrities who have expressed support for nationwide protests and criticized the authorities’ violent crackdown on dissidents. He posted at least three messages of support for the protest on Instagram before his account was deleted.

Masha Amini (22) was arrested by Iranian political police on September 13 last year for not wearing the hijab properly. Amini died in police custody three days later.

Many Iranians and families claim that Amini died as a result of police beatings. However, the country’s authorities and police denied this allegation. For this reason, violent protests have started across Iran. This protest has been going on for more than three months. Many stars and personalities of the world including various celebrities of the country supported this demonstration. Because of this, Iran started to attack.

According to various human rights organizations, more than four hundred protesters were killed during the protests by Iranian forces. Among them are many children.
