Kolkata Film Festival | Watch the video: Independent filmmakers share their thoughts on KIFF2022 dgtl
One of the highlights of the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival is the film “Independent”. Standing outside the confines of the commercial clout of big-budget films or powerful production houses, these “indie” films are making a much-needed impact in the world of cinema. However, the filmmaker and assistant director of the popular film “Dostji” Devraj Naiya believes that the naming of “Independent” is questionable. But from director Lubdhak Chattopadhyay to Rajarshi De, one of the selectors of the “Indian Documentaries and Short Films” category at this year’s Kolkata International Film Festival, everyone has recognized the importance of international film festivals in bringing “independent” films to the public. Filmmaker Saurabh Mukherjee’s ‘Meera’ or director Divesh Gandhi’s ‘Bandits Bazooka’ enter the Kolkata Film Festival and show the courage to dream bigger in the future. The directors hope that the international film festival will promote the production and commercial distribution of “independent” films with the development of a new language and new ideas of filmmaking.
