Korean series ‘Squid Game’ wins an Emmy

The Korean series ‘Squid Game’ is a response to horror at the turn of childhood. This hit series released on Netflix made history on the Emmy stage.

Netflix’s most popular series is “Squid Game”. This Korean series premiered in September 2021. This series by writer-director Hwang Dong-hyuk took the net world by storm after its release. “Squid Game” also performed onstage at the 74th Emmy Awards. The Emmy Awards took place Monday night. There, the Best Director award went to Hwang Dong-hyuk. Upon accepting the award, the director said, “I promise this won’t be my last Emmy Award.” A second season is coming”. Hyuk became the first Asian and the first Korean to receive this honor.

“Squid Game” is the first foreign language series to be nominated in the main drama category at the Emmy Awards. In all, the series has been nominated for 14 Emmy awards this year. Of which 6 awards were given to the ‘Squid Game’ team. Actress Lee Yoo-mi (Ji Young’s character) was honored that day as Best Supporting Actress. Lee Jung Ji received Best Actor (Drama Series) at the Emmys that day. This sensational thriller series also won three technical awards. Best ‘Squid Game’ in the Visual Effects, Stunt Performance and Production Design categories.

‘Squid Game’ is made by mixing childhood playground fables with a dark criminal underworld. Elders participate in children’s games for money.
