Meanwhile, actress Mahia Mahi will purchase the nomination form at the Awami League office in Dhanmondi at 3pm on December 29. Mahi said, “I will buy the nomination form for ‘Chapainawabganj-2’ constituency from the Awami League office on December 29. If I am nominated; I will win with huge votes. Pray for me I am a candidate from the Awami League in the by-election of the seat ‘Chapainawabganj-2’. May Allah fulfill my dream of entering politics. I want to work for the people. I want to devote myself to women and children.

Earlier, seven BNP MPs had announced their resignation from the departmental mass meeting at Golapbagh land in the capital. Consequently, as in other regions, the electoral commission declared vacant the seats of Chapainawabganj-2 (Gomstapur, Bholahat, Nachol). On December 11, six BNP parliamentarians submitted their resignations to the speaker of parliament. The following day, their seats were declared vacant by the Secretariat of the National Parliament. As a result, due to the requirement to hold elections within 90 days, the Electoral Commission announced by-elections in six seats across the country on February 1.

As part of the by-election, Mahi has already started extensive mass communication in the region. A few days ago, the daughter of ‘Agni’ was given the responsibility of co-secretary general of the Central Committee of Bangabandhu Cultural Alliance. Mahir’s husband, Rakib, is a member of the Awami League’s Relief and Welfare Sub-Committee in Gazipur.
