The festival started at the Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Auditorium of the National Museum with dances and songs spreading the message of peace. After the song, the second part started with the speeches of the guests. They stressed the importance of film festivals. According to them, films from different countries and languages contribute a lot to the growth of a country and a culture. No country can progress without cultural harmony. 129 feature films, short films and 123 independent films from 71 countries will be screened during this festival, which has become one of the means of introducing filmmakers from the country to the cinema of different countries. Among them, 81 films are from Bangladesh.
Festival director Ahmed Mujtaba Jamal said in his opening speech, “We have organized this festival even in the midst of Covid. We had to overcome many obstacles to organize this. However, I do it regularly. This time, Bangladeshi filmmakers were given priority in addition to international films. During this 9-day event, films will be screened in the Asian Competition, Retrospective, Bangladesh Panorama, Wide Angle, World Cinema, Children’s Film, Spiritual, Women Filmmakers and other categories, as well as filmmaking workshops. laboratory and cinema. All in all a great event. There will be several films.’
