Music-dance-drama is the art form, the special attraction is Mita-Yuvraj
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy had been quiet since the morning of Friday September 16, a public holiday, but it became busy in the afternoon. It is one of the capital’s cultural venues, which comes alive with Baul songs, dances and plays until 9 p.m.
Organizers say they are now trying to repair the irreparable damage done to the cultural arena due to the corona outbreak. For this, culture workers have relied on quality performances to attract culture lovers. They get a good response. The number of music listeners, theatergoers and dance lovers is increasing.
Cultivation enthusiasts also said they are now seeing better performances than before. For this, friends and family members come to Shilpakala Academy on Friday to listen to music and watch plays. They feel that it can bring about a positive change in the cultural arena.
Cultural activities began at Shilpakala Academy with the “Mita Yuvraj” festival at 4 p.m. that day. Yuvraj Sangh’s event was under the title “Seeing the union between great non-seculars and Mita-Yuvraj”. In the first phase of the two-part program, the Baulgan ceremony was held at the adjacent Nishat Chatwar gate of Shilpakala Academy. Prominent artists have performed various types of bowl songs including lalangiti. This episode ends with a call dance show at 6 p.m.
In the second phase of the program, various events will take place in the main theater hall of the National Theater from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. After the national anthem, the official inauguration took place by lighting the lamp. Later, cultural figures Nasir Uddin Yusuf, Mofidul Haque, Sara Zaker and Ratan Siddiqui participated in the discussion.
At that time, after the solo dance, the artists performed group music. The ‘Suratirtha’ singing troupe led by Mita Haque performed the song Sammit.
Bulbul Islam and Lisa Ahmed Lisa gave a memorial speech in this episode. A special play “Abchaaya Yuvraj” written by Masud Raza was staged. Two groups performed the dance. These songs and poems were sung by Shrikant Acharya, Asaduzzaman Noor, Jayant Chattopadhyay and Subarna Mostafa.
Shilpakala Academy Managing Director Liaquat Ali Lucky, HSBC Managing Director Mahbub ur Rahman and IFIC Managing Director Shah A Sarwar were present as special guests on the occasion. During this time, they discussed various aspects of Mita and Yuvraj’s creative work.
Meanwhile, the short film ‘Dhusarajatra’ was curated by Panchali Films in collaboration with Shilpakala Academy. The inaugural screening of the film started at 6:30 p.m. at the Jatiya Chitrashala Auditorium. The film is written, scripted and directed by Masood Suman.
The Cultural Festival-2022 takes place from September 7 to 16 every day from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. This Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy event was held at the National Music and Dance Auditorium. The artists performed creative dances to different tracks. The organizers have announced that the festival will be extended for two more days (September 17 and 18).
At 7:00 p.m., the performance of the drama ‘Gyandrakal’ (overture) begins at the Experimental Theater Hall of the National Theater. The crowd of spectators to see this atmosphere of the literary theater group was eye-catching. The organizers also expressed their satisfaction after seeing this scene.
On the other hand, ‘Dear Liar’ starts at 7:00 am in the National Theater studio theater room. The gallery was packed to hear this theatrical recitation of Natyam’s repertoire. Professor Abdus Salim has translated the love letters of George Bernard Shaw and famous actress Patrick Campbell.
