National anthem | ‘Utkal’ and ‘Banga’ missing from national anthem in Uttar Pradesh dgtl school textbooks
Pakistan includes ‘Indus’ ‘as is’. But two Indian states ‘Utkal’ and ‘Beng’ have been left out of the national anthem printed in Uttar Pradesh government school books. The political debate has already started over such distortion of the national anthem in government school books in Yogi Adityanath State.
The version of the national anthem ‘Janganaman’ printed in the Uttar Pradesh Class V Hindi Textbook has, in the second line, ‘Punjab Sindh Gujarat Maratha Dravidian’. After that, excluding ‘Utkal’ and ‘Banga’, there is the third line – ‘Vindhya Himachal Yamuna Ganga Uchhal Jaldhitaranga’. According to sources from the news agency, the primary education department of Uttar Pradesh has already printed two and a half to three books containing the wrong national anthem.
The controversy began as soon as this error was revealed. The report was summoned to the Secretary of the Department of Primary Education. However, the Yogi government’s primary education department blamed the incident on the cited publishing house. The opposition demanded legal action against the officials concerned for insulting the national anthem. Incidentally, the BJP never came to power in Odisha and West Bengal. Hence, the question has arisen whether this incident is due to the “jealousy” of the BJP-led government of Uttar Pradesh towards the two eastern Indian states.
