Opi Karim’s ‘Mayar Janjal’ voted world’s best film

The international streaming platform “Mubi.com” has placed the movie “Mayar Janjal” produced by joint Bangladesh-India production and starring Opi Karim, a well-known face of Dhaka’s money world, in the queue of films of the famous producers of the world.

In the same list, along with this film, there are masterpieces of such famous directors as John Luke-Gather, Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, Roman Polanski, David Fincher, Francois Crufo.

Adapted from two short stories by Manik Banerjee, “Mayar Janjal” is directed by Indian filmmaker Indranil Roy Chowdhury. Produced by Jasim Ahmed. The film will be released next month.

The film’s producer, Jaseem Ahmed, rose to prominence at home and abroad by directing short films. These are “Stain”, “A Pair of Sandals” and “Chocolate”.

Jasim Ahmed, the producer of the film, said that it is possible that artists from Kolkata will come to Dhaka for the release of “Mayar Janjal”.

“Mayer Janjal” premiered at the 23rd Shanghai International Film Festival. It was officially selected for screening at the Moscow International Film Festival. The film was invited to the Asian Perspectives section of the Jogja-Netpack Asian Film Festival in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Additionally, “Mayer Janjal” won the Jury Prize for Best Feature in the competition section of the Asiatica Film Festival in Rome, Italy, the Jury Prize for Best Feature in the Rainbow Film Festival in London, UK. United, and the Asian competition at the Dhaka International Film Festival.

OP Karim’s first film was “Bachelor” in 2004 directed by Mustafa Sarayar Farooqui. He was not found on the big screen after that. He returns to the big screen with “Mayar Janjal”.
