Pabna Palli electricity officer suspended after bribe video goes viral

Accused Deputy Managing Director (DGM) Sajjadur Rahman has been temporarily suspended in connection with the Pabna Palli Vidyut Samiti-1 Dashuria branch video of ‘taking bribe money and returning the money after having seen this scene video” posted on Facebook. In this incident, Palli Vidyut Samiti formed a departmental investigation committee.

Pabna Palli Vidyut Samiti-1 Managing Director (GM) Akmal Hossain told NTV Online this information last Sunday evening.

Akmal Hossain said, “DGM Sajjadur Rahman has been temporarily suspended from the Dashuria office and attached to the Mymensingh supervisor’s office on the instructions of the association’s head office.”

Pointing out that the Palli Vidyut Samiti has formed a committee to investigate the incident, he said, the committee will start working from Monday. Further action will be taken after the report of the committee after the investigation.

Earlier on September 14, a defaulting customer named Aminul Islam Rana was giving money to DGM Sajjadur Rahman to get a new power connection – a video has gone viral on social media Facebook.

Aminul Islam Rana alleged that the official had been wandering for a long time to provide a power connection. Later, he asked her for one lakh rupees for the connection. He went to pay that money. Now he doesn’t know who or who made the video from behind.

Denying the allegation that he premeditated the video with his own men to frame the DGM, Aminul said, “Abol Tabol spoke about the video of the DGM taking bribes to protect himself.”

Meanwhile, Sajjadur Rahman, Deputy Director General (DGM) of Pabna Palli Vidyut Samiti-1 Dashuria Area Office, claimed that the video of the money being taken was blackmailed. On Sunday afternoon, he said, “In the name of Aminul Islam Rana’s father, there is an unpaid bill of Tk 9,3,948 for electricity connection. Disconnected due to long non-payment. When Aminul Islam filed a court summons, the court ordered him to pay the bill within six months. We organize the payment of the invoice in monthly installments of six months. But instead of paying the bill, he threatened me with various threats. Without paying this money, Aminul Islam was trying to get a new connection with a different name.

Sajjadur Rahman also said, “When Aminul came to get a new connection that day, he was told to pay the previous unpaid bill. Then he took out the money and gave it to me. I took the money and told him to deposit the money at the cashier. Meanwhile, some of them are trying to promote it as a “bribe” by making videos on their cellphones. Later that day, a written complaint was filed against him at the police station.
