Sachin Devavarman’s house will be a musical training center

The home of legendary lyricist and composer Manishi Sachin Devavarman in Comilla is a world-class music training center and music archive.

This information is known from the minutes of the 28th meeting of the Standing Committee of the Ministry of Culture which was held on Sunday 18 September at the Hôtel du Parlement. A recommendation was made in this regard earlier in the meeting.

During the meeting, the implementation and progress of the recommendations of the parliamentary committee in this regard were presented. According to the Ministry of Culture, it has been announced that the house of famous musician Sachin Devavarman will be reduced to a memorial. In the meantime, the necessary renovation and conservation works financed by the Ministry of Culture have been completed. Comilla’s deputy commissioner did not turn the house over to the Archaeological Directorate. However, if the house is handed over to the Directorate of Archaeology, a DDP will be submitted to place the entire house under the Ministry of Culture and set up a music training center with international standards and a music archive.

There are large and small cultural centers in the capital

During the meeting, the ministry also informed that small local cultural centers will be established for the dissemination of cultural practices in the city of Dhaka. At the same time, the Capital Development Authority has allocated 41 kata of land in Uttara for the Ministry of Culture to build a large-scale cultural center. The process of executing the deed of lease for this land is in progress.

According to the sources of the meeting, during the meeting, it was recommended to take appropriate measures to publish the Nil Sagar Tourist Center of Nilphamari district.

In addition, the meeting recommended to send a summary to the Prime Minister for the allocation of 10 acres of land to Purbachal for the construction of a cultural center. In addition, the construction of a cultural center for tea workers in Moulvibazar and Habiganj districts and the renovation of Satyajit Roy’s house in Kishoreganj district are recommended.
