It is forbidden to bring food from outside the cinema hall. In 2018, the ban was lifted by the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir. Due to this rule, the audience is forced to eat what is sold in the theater. A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against this ban on bringing in food. The Supreme Court bench consisting of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha was hearing the case on Tuesday. Given this, the bench said, movie theaters and multiplexes are entitled to maintain their own terms. The authorities also have the right to decide whether food and drink can be brought into the cinema hall.

How can a High Court say that any food can be brought in from outside? Bench A also said that once they enter the theater, audiences are expected to follow the rules.

The bench judges explained, “Suppose a moviegoer walks into the movie theater with a jilipi. The authorities can block him. If he eats jelly and wipes his finger on the seat, then who will pay for it? clean it? You can also bring tandoori chicken if outside food is allowed. Then there will be complaints of bones lying in the theater. This may cause trouble for other viewers. No one forced the audience to buy popcorn inside the theatre.”
