They are the Fipreski Jury at the Dhaka Festival

The 21st edition of the country’s largest film festival, DIFF (Dhaka International Film Festival), is once again taking place in Dhaka. On January 14, the festival curtain will rise for 9 consecutive days; It will end on the 22nd.

This time there are also 3 judges from the International Federation of Film Critics (Fipreski). They are the German journalist, researcher and writer Axel Timo Per; Film critic, screenwriter and journalist Elina Rubashevskaja from Ukraine and writer, film critic and journalist Bidhan Riberu from Bangladesh.

Judges will review films from the Bangladesh Panorama section of the Dhaka International Film Festival and award one feature film and three short films in the name of Fipreski.

One of the Bangladesh Panorama feature films will receive the Fipreski Critics Award. In the same section, there will be ten-minute short films made by the students. The three best films will be selected from these. Out of these three, the best short film will receive 2.5 lakh taka, the first runner-up will receive 1.5 lakh taka, and the second runner-up will receive 1 lakh taka.

Bidhan Riberu, one of the jury members of Fipreski, said, “The Panorama section is mainly organized to showcase Bangladeshi films internationally. This is the first time that short films have been included in this category. As a result, we now have the option of considering two feature films.

220 films from 70 countries will be screened during this 9-day festival. In this 2023 festival, the competition is organized into 10 categories. During the festival, domestic and foreign films will be screened at Allianz Frosage, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, National Museum Auditorium and Star Cineplex. In addition, a seminar on women in films will also be held on 15 and 16 January. During the seminar, women representing various fields at home and abroad will read and discuss the main articles.
