The body of legendary musical personality Gazi Mazharul Anwar was brought to the BFDC after the national “Guard of Honor” tribute at the central Shaheed Minar. Information Minister Hasan Mahmud paid his respects to Kabir’s body around 12:30 p.m. Monday.
At that time, he said, the creations of Gazi Mazharul Anwar will be kept in the new FDC building.
Information Minister Hasan Mahmud said, “The FDC has its place in the new building. The works of talented artists, songwriters, composers of the country will be kept there. The creation of Gazi Mazharul Anwar will also be kept there.
Seeking forgiveness from the soul of Gazi Mazharul Anwar, the Information Minister said, “He has left us, but he will live on through his timeless creations. I think as long as there are songs in Bengali, it will live. He left prematurely. He wasn’t that sick. He died of a sudden heart attack. If he had stayed, then our culture, the cinematic arena could have been enriched.
Besides the Minister of Information, 18 film organizations including Gitikbi Sangh, Bangladesh Film Journalists Association (Bachsas) also paid floral tributes to Gazi Mazharul Anwar.
Meanwhile, the body of Gazi Mazharul Anwar will be transported to Channel I premises after the first funeral at BFDC. The second funeral will take place there. After that, the poet will be taken to Azad Mosque in Gulshan. After the third funeral, he will be buried in Banani Cemetery.
It should be noted that the country’s eminent lyricist, director and producer, Gazi Mazharul Anwar died at around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday. Guni is a cultural figure who fainted while going to the bathroom at home. He was immediately taken to United Hospital in the capital. Doctors think he had a stroke.
